Creator Payments for Brand Deals: TikTok One Pay Explained
Creator payments for brand deals are moving into TikTok One Pay, which promises transfers within 30 days. See how eligibility, approval delays, taxes and contracts still affect creators.
Making the sponsored video is usually the easy bit. Getting paid? That's where the emails begin. Then the follow-ups. Then the suspiciously silent finance department.
TikTok thinks it can remove that headache by putting itself between creators and brands. Useful, yes. Innocent? Let's not get carried away.
TikTok enters the invoice
At its September 24 Creators Summit in Los Angeles, TikTok introduced One Pay, a payment system built into TikTok One, its marketplace for brand collaborations.
Brands pay through the platform, TikTok handles the transfer, and creators are supposed to receive their money within 30 days of publishing. TikTok says it won't charge creators transaction fees or take a commission. Bank charges and taxes can still apply, obviously. The taxman remains undefeated.
TikTok's existing project system can collect the brand's payment before work begins and release it after the video is approved. That's an important detail: payment may be secured, but creators still need a clear approval process. "We'll know it when we see it" remains a terrible brief.
One Pay sits inside TikTok One, where creators can negotiate fixed-fee collaborations, produce ads for brand accounts or let advertisers promote existing posts. Eligibility generally requires1 10,000 followers, 1,000 post views and three posts during the previous 30 days, although requirements can vary by region.
TikTok also showed off One Plus, an invite-only tier for selected creators in the US and Mexico with at least 100,000 followers. Members get a quality label, exclusive opportunities and 15% extra on certain collaborations, according to details from the event2.
Why this matters
Thirty days isn't instant. It is, however, much healthier than the net-60 and net-90 terms creators routinely accept while rent, editors and software subscriptions continue arriving on schedule.
It's especially valuable for newer creators who land a deal after one viral post but don't yet have an agent, lawyer or terrifying accountant chasing invoices.
Reliable payment beats a glamorous campaign with a disappearing brand manager. Every single time. There's a bigger play here. TikTok already influences discovery, hosts the content and sells the resulting ads. Now it wants to manage creator search, negotiation and payment too. Meanwhile, TikTok Shop generated an estimated $50.3 billion in global sales during the first half of 2026, according to Momentum Works3. Money moving through the app is becoming the product.
Your next move
Check TikTok Studio's Monetization section and complete your payment, tax and bank information before a campaign appears. Admin done during a deadline is how mistakes happen.
Keep your own contract and invoice records. One Pay handles the transfer, not every argument about revisions, usage rights or cancellation.
Finally, define approval dates before filming. Faster payment means little if a brand can leave your video sitting in review for three weeks. Rails are good. You still need brakes.
