Creator-Led Sports Broadcasting: LiveMode Takes Football to YouTube
Creator-led sports broadcasting is moving into premium football rights as LiveMode brings Premier League and Champions League matches to YouTube through CazéTV in Brazil and Portugal.
This isn't a cute co-stream experiment anymore.
Creator-led sports broadcasting has moved from reacting to the match into owning the actual match. The expensive bit. The protected bit. The thing television networks built their castles around.
Football leaves the box
LiveMode, the company behind Casimiro Miguel's CazéTV, will show one Premier League match per round free on YouTube in Brazil and Portugal.
The Brazilian coverage comes through an agreement with rights holder ESPN. In Portugal, LiveModeTV has partnered with DAZN and will also carry one UEFA Champions League game per matchday, usually from the earlier kickoff slot.
DAZN isn't giving away the crown jewels. It still carries all 380 Premier League matches and 166 of the Champions League's 203 games in Portugal. The free streams are the shop window; the subscription holds the shelves. The agreement was announced1 on August 19.
The Premier League season begins tomorrow, August 21. LiveMode's first scheduled match is Manchester City against Bournemouth on Sunday, August 23, according to the opening-weekend schedule2.
The creator angle
LiveMode has earned this access. During the 2026 World Cup, CazéTV streamed all 104 matches free in Brazil. One broadcast passed 23 million concurrent viewers, setting a YouTube record for a single livestream.
And these weren't mainly teenagers hiding behind phones. More than 70% of CazéTV's World Cup watch time in Brazil came through connected televisions, according to YouTube's tournament data3.
That's the bit old media should circle in red. YouTube isn't competing for the second screen. It has become the television.
For creators, the lesson isn't "go buy Premier League rights." Unless you found several suitcases of money behind the sofa.
It's that distribution now rewards a full package: recognizable talent, chat-native presentation, fast clips, recurring shows and a community that returns between major events. LiveMode can turn one match into previews, reactions, shorts, interviews and sponsor inventory. The stream is only the loudest part.
Portuguese viewers have already shown both sides of that bargain. Free access and reliable streams received praise during the World Cup. The commentary style took some heat. Reach gets you sampled. Craft gets you invited back.
Your move
First, stop treating live content as disposable. Plan the clips, follow-ups and community posts before you press broadcast.
Second, become useful around something valuable. Leagues control footage. Creators can still own explanation, personality and belonging.
Finally, build formats that work without the giant event. If your audience only appears when someone else supplies the spectacle, you don't have a media business yet. You've rented a crowd.
