Multistreaming Strategy for Creators: Ibai Llanos' 8.7M Lesson
Ibai Llanos's multistreaming strategy for creators reached 8.7 million viewers across Twitch, YouTube and TikTok, showing how different platforms can expand reach while keeping a core community engaged.
A year ago, La Velada del Año was proof that Twitch could still gather the internet into one enormous room.
This year, Ibai Llanos opened more doors. The crowd scattered - and somehow got bigger.
The platform split
On July 25, Ibai staged the sixth La Velada del Año at Seville's La Cartuja stadium. Roughly 80,000 people watched inside while creators boxed, musicians performed and sponsors fought their own quiet battle for screen time.
The important change happened outside the stadium. Instead of treating Twitch as the one true home, Ibai broadcast simultaneously on Twitch, YouTube and, for the first time, TikTok.
According to Streams Charts1, the event peaked at about 8.7 million viewers across platforms. Twitch delivered 2.08 million concurrent viewers. YouTube reached 5.08 million - a personal YouTube record for Ibai.
That's a brutal drop from La Velada V's roughly 9.2 million Twitch peak. Taken alone, it looks like the event fell off a cliff. It didn't. The audience simply stopped standing in one place.
The creator lesson
This is where creators need to retire an old habit: confusing their platform with their audience.
Ibai grew into a streaming giant on Twitch, but viewers apparently had no problem watching his flagship event elsewhere. YouTube offered familiar TV apps, search, recommendations and a replay that remains useful after the final bell. TikTok caught people already scrolling. Twitch kept the core community.
Different doors. Same show.
Your followers aren't married to your favorite platform. And frankly, neither should you be.
Twitch's current simulcasting rules2 allow creators to broadcast elsewhere unless an individual agreement says otherwise. That makes platform exclusivity less of a technical requirement and more of a business decision.
There's money in the split, too. YouTube live streams can earn through ads, memberships and Supers under its live monetization system3. More importantly, the stream becomes searchable long-form inventory instead of yesterday's event buried in a video tab.
Your next move
Test one multistream before rebuilding everything. Use your next launch, interview or community stream. Watch where people arrive, how long they stay and whether one chat becomes impossible to manage.
Give every platform a job. One may be your live community. Another handles discovery. Another stores the durable version. Posting the same file everywhere without a reason isn't strategy. It's admin.
Own the trail back to you. Collect emails, run a community and keep a simple home page. Platform reach is rented. Your relationship with the audience shouldn't be.
Ibai didn't abandon Twitch. He stopped asking it to carry the whole stadium.
