VidCon Nashville 2027: What the Move Means for Creators
VidCon Nashville 2027 marks the end of the Anaheim era and brings the creator event closer to LIONS, advertisers and agencies. Here's what creators should prepare for before dates and passes are announced.
VidCon's California era is over. After 2026, no more Anaheim pilgrimage, Disneyland detours or creators attempting business meetings beside teenagers hunting autographs.
The replacement looks more commercial. Better for deals, perhaps. Less magical? Quite possibly.
A different VidCon
Owner Informa is moving VidCon into LIONS, the group behind advertising heavyweight Cannes Lions. The combined operation will be called VidCon x LIONS Creators, according to the September 16 announcement1.
The first full US edition is scheduled for Nashville in fall 2027, inside Informa's broader Insight to Impact festival. VidCon will also appear at Cannes Lions in June 2027.
Small but important distinction: Insight to Impact begins in Denver on October 5, 2026, bringing together Content Marketing World, market-research conference TMRE and several LIONS businesses. VidCon itself doesn't complete the transition until Nashville the following year.
That ends a long Anaheim run. VidCon began in 2010, settled at the Anaheim Convention Center in 2012 and became the rare event where fandom, platform announcements and creator business occupied the same increasingly crowded building.
Informa purchased VidCon from Paramount Global in 2024. Pairing it with LIONS also removes an awkward calendar fight: both VidCon and Cannes Lions traditionally happened in June, forcing speakers, agencies and creator teams to pick one.
The business won
This isn't merely a new city. It's a signal about who the industry wants in the room.
US creator advertising is expected to reach $44 billion in 2026, according to IAB projections2. Brands now want measurement, predictable results and creators who can operate like media companies. LIONS already speaks that language fluently.
For established creators, Nashville could mean easier access to advertisers, agencies and decision-makers with actual budgets. The hallway conversation may become more valuable than another panel about "finding your authentic voice." Thank God.
But the reaction is understandably split. Marketers are relieved the two conferences will stop competing. Longtime attendees worry the fan-and-creator gathering is being swallowed by a B2B marketing event. That tension is already visible in industry discussion3.
Creators finally have a seat at the advertising table. Just don't become the table decoration.
Your next move
Don't book Nashville yet. Dates, passes and creator programming for fall 2027 haven't been published. Wait until the agenda shows whether independent creators are participants or simply inventory.
Build a commercial one-pager. Include audience data, campaign outcomes, formats and one sharp collaboration idea. This new VidCon will reward creators who can explain their value without opening a 46-slide deck.
Protect the community layer. Brand meetings pay the hotel bill. Peer relationships build careers. If VidCon becomes more corporate, arrive with your own dinners, meetups and collaboration plans. The useful conference often happens after the official one ends.
